*UPDATE FRIDAY 12th FEBRUARY 2010

Working towards the rolling out of a new overbridge structure to the A80 at the M73 Mollinsburn Interchange during the weekend of Friday 19th February 2010, there are currently lane changes at this location affecting both Northbound and Southbound traffic.

The dedicated Southbound lane from Mollinsburn Junction to the M73(S) has been removed and all traffic is restricted to two lanes with access to the off-slip for the M73(S). Passing through the M73 Interchange, traffic in the A80(S) off-side lane is moved into contraflow on the Northbound carriageway for a short stretch until a point after the Interchange. This contraflow in turn restricts Northbound A80 traffic passing through the M73 Interchange. Delay may be expected, especially during peak periods.

The rolling out of the new overbridge structure will take place overnight on Saturday 20th February between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs. This will involve restrictions and short closures to both the A80 carriageways and M73 ramps during the course of Saturday 20th, Saturday overnight and Sunday 21st February.

*UPDATE WEDNESDAY 21st OCTOBER 2009

Road Users and Roads Crews are to benefit from enhanced road safety as installation of sixteen average speed cameras between Mollinsburn and Haggs is carried out. The cameras are set to go live on or around the 2nd of November 2009.

Operated by Strathclyde Safety Camera Partnership, the cameras assist in generating a safe and steady traffic flow by recording the average speed of vehicles. The cameras will assist the enforcement of a maximum speed limit of 40mph, to help ensure the safety of both Road Users and Roads Crews operating along the hard shoulder and roadside during daytime hours and on the carriageway overnight.

Transport Scotland's Road Safety Action Plan targets reduction of speed related incidents, working with eight Safety Camera Partnerships across Scotland to support this aim.
