West Lothian - M8 J3 Livingston, Contraflow Works from Monday 23rd August 2010 for 17 days
M8(E) Junction 3 to River Almond Surfacing Works

A £1.225M Transport Scotland road maintenance scheme is to be undertaken on the eastbound M8 between Junction 3 and Junction 2.

Work will start on Monday 23rd August for 17 days to resurface the eastbound carriageway and upgrade the drainage system.

The works will be undertaken with all traffic running in contraflow on the westbound carriageway. A 40 mph speed limit will be in place during the works for the safety of both road users and roads crews. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained during daytime hours, dropping to one lane in each direction overnight.

Due to the nature of the works being carried out under contraflow, delays may be expected and road users should consider both journey times and timing of journeys. Every effort will be made to minimise any delay and road users are urged to show due care and attention whilst passing the works and show due respect to roads crews in their working environment.

Eastbound wide and abnormal loads exceeding 3.2m in width will be diverted off the M8 at Junction 3 Livingston and travel via the A89 to join the M9(S) at Newbridge Roundabout for the M8(E).

The works have been carefully planned in consultation with West Lothian Council and Lothian and Borders Police.

The works will be carried out by Tarmac Ltd on behalf of Transport Scotland. Trunk Road Operating Company, BEAR Scotland Ltd has designed and will supervise the works.
